Bauchi Governor Dismisses Women Affairs Commissioner

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has relieved Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko of her duties as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday, September 29.

Gidado explained that the dismissal formed part of a minor reshuffle in the State Executive Council.

“In that respect, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect.

“The governor thanks the Honourable Commissioner for her services to the State and wishes her success in her future endeavours,” the statement read.

The commissioner’s removal comes days after the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission announced the dismissal of two senior officials over allegations of document forgery.

According to a statement released on Wednesday, September 25, by the Commission’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Saleh Umar, the offence contravened public service rule 0327 (ii, iii, and vi), which prohibits forgery and falsification of official records.

Earlier, on September 11, the commission had also terminated the appointment of an education officer over gross misconduct relating to sexual harassment.
