Claimants: EFCC Yet to Act on $2.1m Wike Petition

Two firms have accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of failing to act on their petition against Jordan Nyesom-Wike, son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over an alleged $2.1m land deal, despite acknowledging receipt of the complaint.

The petitioners, Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited, accused Jordan of fraud, obtaining money by false pretences, criminal misappropriation and conversion.

Their counsel, Ibrahim Waru, who spoke to journalists at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, said the petition was intended to enable the anti-graft agency to investigate the alleged criminal aspects of the transaction.

The civil dispute however, remains pending before the FCT High Court.

Claimants Petition Reveals Alleged Transaction With Jordan

Waru said his clients submitted evidence, including correspondence and WhatsApp exchanges, to support their allegations that the money was handed over to Wike’s son.

The petition, a copy of which was sighted by Journalists, stated that the claimant met Jordan in London, where they developed a relationship.

According to the petition, Jordan later promised to facilitate the allocation of 30 hectares of land in Katampe and another 30 hectares in Guzape, within the Federal Capital Territory.

The petitioners alleged that he claimed to have his father’s knowledge and approval for the transaction.

“To strengthen these representations, Jordan placed a telephone call to his father in the presence of our client, ostensibly informing him of the intended transaction,” the document stated.

“Jordan thereafter assured our client that he could secure 30 hectares of land in Katampe and 30 hectares in Guzape.

“Jordan demanded and received the sum of USD2,000,000 (Two Million United States Dollars) as the fee he would deliver to his father, the Honourable Minister, to facilitate the land allocation.

“Additionally, our client paid USD100,000 (One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) to Jordan as his personal facilitation fee,” the petition added.

The petition further stated that the total sum of $2.1m was paid in cash on October 17, 2025, in the presence of two witnesses, Adamu Sani and Aliyu Sarki.

It added that Jordan was accompanied by one Onor Sandy, whom he introduced as his friend and associate.

Claimants Task EFCC to Commence  Immediate Investigation

The claimants alleged that Jordan promised to deliver the land allocations within a month but failed to fulfil the agreement after receiving the money.

“After receiving the funds, he failed to deliver on the agreement and became incommunicado,” the petition stated.

It further alleged that the UK telephone number Jordan provided was no longer reachable and that attempts to contact him through individuals known to the minister had failed.

The petitioners said they believed the circumstances warranted an investigation into alleged offences, including obtaining money by false pretences under Section 1(1) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act.

They urged the EFCC to commence an immediate investigation, interrogate Jordan and prosecute him if the investigation established criminal liability.

“Our client is prepared to provide all necessary help, including the witnesses and any further information that may assist the Commission,” the petition added.

The document also referred to an acknowledgment of payment allegedly signed by Jordan.

Court Fixes December 1 for Hearing

Meanwhile, Justice Silvanus Oriji of the FCT High Court has adjourned the civil suit, marked CV/008/2026, until December 1 for continuation of hearing.

Jordan has denied the allegations, maintaining that he was outside Nigeria during the period the claimants alleged the money was handed over to him.

To support his position, he tendered his international passport before the court, insisting that he travelled out of the country with his American passport during the period in question.

The claimants have also petitioned the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, seeking Justice Oriji’s removal from the case over an alleged relationship with the family of the FCT minister.

The allegations remain disputed.
