PDP Suspends Anambra Guber Candidate Ezenwafor, Alleges Sabotage

The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its governorship candidate, Mr. Jude Ezenwafor, for one month following what it described as his poor performance and acts of sabotage during the November 8 governorship election.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) held at the party’s secretariat in Awka on Tuesday.
Announcing the suspension, the PDP State Chairman, Mr. Chidi Chidebe, said the move followed a review of the party’s dismal performance in the election, where it placed fourth with 1,401 votes.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won the election with 422,664 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) came second with 99,445 votes, and the Labour Party finished third with 10,505 votes.
Chidebe explained that Ezenwafor’s conduct during the campaign period was marked by non-cooperation and deliberate actions that undermined the party’s collective interests.
He said the candidate failed to campaign across any ward or local government area, nor did he hold a single rally throughout the electioneering period.
“Ezenwafor Showed No Commitment”
“Mr. Ezenwafor showed no interest or commitment to the campaign. His activities were not only unhelpful but damaging to the PDP’s efforts. He even collaborated with candidates from other political parties to weaken our chances,” Chidebe stated.
According to him, Ezenwafor allegedly formed a “parallel group of impostors,” many of whom were not PDP members, to perform functions reserved for the legitimate party structure.

“In light of these actions, the SEC resolved to suspend Mr. Jude Ezenwafor for a period of one month with immediate effect and refer him to the State Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and recommendations,” Chidebe said.
He added that the National Working Committee (NWC) had been notified of the development and advised not to accord Ezenwafor or his collaborators any form of recognition pending the outcome of the investigation.
The PDP chairman revealed that when it became clear the candidate was unwilling to lead the campaign, the SEC met with all council executives on November 7 and directed members to vote for PDP candidates in their respective areas.
PDP Performance Worst In History
Despite these efforts, Chidebe lamented that the party’s performance was the worst in its history in Anambra State. He noted that Ezenwafor secured only one vote in his own ward, Nnobi Ward 3 in Idemili South Local Government Area, which has 12 polling units.
“This result exposes his lack of character, credibility, and commitment to both the party and the election,” Chidebe said.
The chairman reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to enforcing discipline, promoting unity, and rebuilding the party under the leadership of Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum.
