The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has declared that the ruling party remains the best political option for Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Lagos APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, made the remarks in a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday, noting that the party had been following with keen interest the political trajectory of the 2023 NNPP presidential candidate and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

There have been growing speculations in political circles that Kwankwaso may be considering a return to the APC.

NNPP a Regional Experiment

Oladejo said the NNPP had become “little more than a regional experiment, spirited, yes, but without the spread, depth, or resilience required to thrive on the national stage.”

He maintained that the limitations of the party were evident, warning that to remain in denial would amount to wasting the loyalty of Kwankwaso’s numerous followers on a platform that could not sustain them.

According to him, the APC on the other hand had proven itself as “the strongest, most inclusive, and most formidable political family in Nigeria,” adding that it remained the only party with the structure and vision to secure Kwankwaso’s political legacy.

Hand of Fellowship Extended

“For a politician of Kwankwaso’s stature, only the APC has the structure and vision capable of amplifying his relevance,” Oladejo stated.

He urged Kwankwaso to stop wasting political energy on platforms with no capacity to actualise his ambitions or those of his teeming supporters.

“We extend a hand of fellowship to Senator Kwankwaso and his movement. The time has come to stop wasting political energy in experiments destined for the archives of history. In politics, the wise man joins the winning caravan, while the stubborn one is left behind in the dust,” he said.

Oladejo described the APC as the “natural home for Kwankwaso, his followers, and all well-meaning Nigerians who want to remain on the right side of history.”

PDP a Sinking Ship

The Lagos APC spokesman dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as an option for Kwankwaso, saying the party had become a laughing stock.

He described the PDP as “a party of contradictions, riddled with infighting and consumed by desperation,” insisting it had overstayed and outlived its relevance.

“The same PDP that once shut Kwankwaso and many others out now parades itself as a credible alternative. Nigerians are not fooled. PDP is a sinking ship. Other opposition parties are scattered bands of frustrated defectors,” Oladejo stated.

He concluded that the APC remained “the only true national platform where ambition meets opportunity, where loyalty is rewarded, and where collective progress is placed above petty personal interest.”
