Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged Nigerians to actively engage with the government by drawing attention to areas they believe require improvement and offering constructive suggestions.
Wike made the call on Monday during his monthly media chat in Abuja, stressing that government officials are human and cannot have answers to every challenge.
The minister encouraged citizens to go beyond criticism and contribute ideas that could help improve governance and service delivery.
According to him, meaningful engagement with government should include suggestions rather than outright fault-finding.
‘Government Does Not Know Everything’
Wike noted that it is the responsibility of citizens to assist the government with information and guidance where necessary.
“You can call our attention. Make your own suggestions to the government. The government does not know everything. I’m human,” he said.

He further stressed that good governance is strengthened when citizens provide useful feedback rather than only criticising policies and actions.
“It’s not by coming out to criticize and fault what the government is doing. Nobody has called my attention. What good citizens should do is to call the attention of the government,” he added.
The minister maintained that collaborative engagement between government and citizens remains key to improving governance outcomes.
He claimed that no resident of Abuja can deny the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the territory.
He urged residents and Nigerians to set aside sentiments when assessing the performance of the federal government, adding that criticism of the administration should be based on facts rather than personal or ethnic sentiments.
According to him, while the government may not have achieved everything, significant progress is visible in the FCT, particularly in infrastructure development.
“I’m not saying the government has done everything; I’m not saying so. But if you are really a resident in Abuja, can you, in truth, say you don’t feel the impact of this government?” he said.
Wike insisted that developments in the capital city are evident and should not be dismissed due to political bias.
“Forget about your sentiment, forget about, oh, I want my village man to be President. If you really stay in Abuja, will you say this government has not made any impact in terms of infrastructure?” he added.
The minister maintained that ongoing projects under the Tinubu administration are transforming the FCT and improving urban infrastructure across the territory.
