The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has disowned a fake recruitment advertisement circulating on social media and warned members of the public against falling victim to fraudsters.
The Service also cautioned criminals behind the fake advert to desist from using its name to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the NCS urged members of the public to disregard the recruitment notice and rely exclusively on information released through its official communication channels for authentic updates on its activities, including recruitment exercises.
“Recruitment scams have become a recurring challenge in Nigeria, with fraudsters often exploiting public interest in government jobs by circulating fake advertisements and soliciting money from unsuspecting applicants,” the statement said.

The Service said security agencies and government institutions had repeatedly warned citizens against responding to unofficial recruitment notices.
It therefore advised Nigerians to verify information through its official platforms before sharing or acting on recruitment-related announcements.
“Members of the public are advised to disregard the publication and rely only on information disseminated through the official communication channels of the Nigeria Customs Service,” it added.
