Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Abdulrahman Mohammed is the legitimate National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike made the remark on Wednesday during a media chat in Abuja, where he addressed the party’s lingering internal crisis and criticised the rival faction led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.
The PDP has been embroiled in a leadership dispute since 2023, following the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.

The crisis split the party into two camps, one aligned with Wike and the other backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
At the party’s 2025 convention in Ibadan, the Makinde-led faction elected a new National Working Committee headed by Turaki. In response, the Wike camp announced Abdulrahman Mohammed as national chairman.
“Mohammed holds the position. He is the chairman of the party,” Wike said.
