Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and currently serving their first term have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, declaring support for the continuation of his Renewed Hope agenda beyond the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after a meeting of the governors held in Kebbi State on Tuesday.
The governors said their decision was driven by the need to sustain ongoing reforms, ensure policy continuity and strengthen collaboration between the Federal Government and states.
According to the communiqué, the endorsement was based on the belief that Nigeria needs consistent leadership to consolidate economic reforms and promote growth in agriculture, innovation, enterprise and productivity.
Governors Urge Nigerians to be Patient with Tinubu’s Reforms
The governors acknowledged the economic hardship facing many Nigerians but maintained that the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration were necessary to reposition the country’s economy.
They said they recognised the sacrifices made by families, workers, farmers, traders, transport operators, youths, women and other vulnerable groups during the ongoing economic adjustments.
Despite the challenges, the governors declared their total support for Tinubu and the continuation of his administration beyond 2027, describing the move as a commitment to national recovery, democratic stability, shared prosperity and the unity of the federation.

The APC governors urged Nigerians to remain patient with the ongoing reforms, arguing that abandoning the policies midway could undermine efforts to achieve long-term economic recovery.
They also called for necessary adjustments where required while expanding support for vulnerable citizens.
The governors further praised the President for taking what they described as difficult but necessary decisions in the interest of Nigerians.
They appealed to the Federal Government to intensify interventions in food production, transportation, social protection, rural livelihoods and security to ease the burden on citizens.
Governors Express Concern over Insecurity, Others…
On security, the governors expressed concern over continued cases of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and attacks on schools in different parts of the country.
They condemned the abduction of children, attacks on innocent citizens and other criminal activities, pledging closer collaboration among the Federal Government, state governments, security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders to tackle insecurity.
The governors said their support for the President must be reflected in improved governance in their respective states, promising to work harder to ensure federal reforms translate into tangible benefits for residents.
They also pledged to prioritise agriculture, food security, education, healthcare, rural infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, job creation, investment promotion, energy access, revenue reforms and transparent governance.
The governors further resolved to seek re-election based on their performance in office, saying they would present their records to the electorate rather than rely on propaganda.
The meeting also discussed reports of attacks on Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.
The governors condemned the incidents of xenophobia and urged the South African authorities to protect foreign residents and ensure justice for victims.
The communiqué was jointly signed by all APC first-term governors who attended the meeting in Kebbi State.
