Three governorship aspirants seeking the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket in Adamawa State have withdrawn from the race and endorsed Ahmed Galadima Aminu ahead of the party’s governorship primary election.
The aspirants, Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar, Comrade Mustapha Salihu and Alhaji Ibrahim Thul, announced their decision on the eve of the primary scheduled for Thursday.
The trio said stepping down in favour of Galadima was aimed at strengthening party unity and improving the APC’s chances in the state.

Their withdrawal significantly narrows the contest and positions Galadima as the frontrunner for the party’s governorship ticket.
Reacting to the endorsements, Galadima expressed appreciation to the three aspirants for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to the development and progress of Adamawa State if elected.
The APC governorship primary is scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The primary comes months after Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress, the platform on which he now seeks to continue his political career.
