Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Gbenga Daniel, has denied reports that he is planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Monday by his media office, Daniel described the claims as false, stressing that he remains a committed member of the ruling party.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Gbenga Daniel is and remains a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, a senator, and remains on the platform of the APC,” the statement read.

The clarification follows the suspension of Daniel and Kunle Folarin by the Ogun State chapter of the APC over alleged anti-party activities, an action that fuelled speculation about his possible defection to the PDP.

Daniel, who represents Ogun East Senatorial District, reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged to continue working for the party’s success.
He assured supporters that he is dedicated to advancing the party’s goals and would not be swayed by rumours.

His denial comes as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 polls, with opposition parties, including the PDP, stepping up efforts to reclaim power from the APC.
