Candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have praised the party’s National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, following the publication of the party’s candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The candidates said the release of the final list ended weeks of uncertainty surrounding the submission and publication of candidates’ particulars, particularly for those contesting National Assembly seats.
Candidates Hail Reconciliation Efforts
In separate reactions, the candidates credited Dickson with guiding the party through the post-primary reconciliation process and called on members to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The NDC candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, said Dickson displayed strong leadership during a difficult period for the party.
She noted that his efforts helped resolve disagreements that emerged after the primaries and ensured the successful submission of the party’s candidates to INEC.
Nwaogu also appealed to aspirants who did not secure tickets to accept the outcome of the primaries and support the party.
“I appeal to aspirants who did not secure tickets to see this as part of the democratic process. Those who were unsuccessful today may succeed tomorrow. We should all work together for the success of our party,” she said.

Aspirants Reject Allegations of Ticket Sale
Some aspirants dismissed allegations that the party sold its tickets to the highest bidders, insisting they were not asked to pay money during the nomination process.
A House of Representatives aspirant based in Canada, who lost the party’s ticket, said the national leadership concentrated on resolving disputes after the primaries rather than interfering with the selection process carried out in the states.
Another aspirant from Edo State also said he met Dickson several times during the nomination exercise and maintained that financial inducement was never discussed.
He added that the former Bayelsa governor made personal sacrifices to strengthen the relatively new party.
Unsuccessful Aspirant Urges Unity
An unsuccessful House of Representatives aspirant for Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency in Imo State, Mazi Nnamdi Dickson Iroegbu, urged party members to put the primaries behind them and work together for victory in the 2027 elections.
Reacting after INEC released the candidates’ list, Iroegbu acknowledged that he did not make the final list but reaffirmed his loyalty to the party.
“My aspiration did not materialise this time, but my commitment to the people remains unwavering. I congratulate all our candidates and urge my supporters to continue supporting the NDC and its leadership,” he said.
The candidates appealed to party members to close ranks, strengthen internal unity and work collectively to ensure the NDC records success in the 2027 general elections.
