Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has launched a series of meetings with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders across the state to strategise and discuss issues affecting both the party and the state.

A statement from the Governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the engagements began on Tuesday at the Rescue Mission Hall, Government House, Gusau, the state capital.

The first round of discussions involved PDP representatives from Gummi and Maru Local Government Areas.

“The engagement provides a platform where the Governor discusses important political issues impacting the party and the State,” Idris said. “In the coming weeks, Governor Lawal will host stakeholders from all 14 local government areas of Zamfara, listening to their concerns, advice, and assessments of local issues.”

According to Idris, such consultations demonstrate the PDP’s continued influence and strength across Zamfara State.

State Radio Gets N3.6 billion for Upgrade

In a related development, the Zamfara State Executive Council (EXCO), chaired by Governor Lawal, approved N3.6 billion for the upgrade and re-equipment of the state-owned AM Radio Station.

The approval was part of the administration’s drive to strengthen state media and improve information dissemination.

State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Muhammad Mahmud Dantawasa, said the project, awarded to ECALPEMOS Technologies, will involve the supply and installation of modern broadcasting equipment.

The work is expected to be completed within 90 days and will enhance operational capacity, signal coverage, and overall broadcast quality.

Dantawasa noted that the upgrade would improve public access to timely and reliable information, particularly in rural areas, while supporting government policies and socio-economic development.

He added that Governor Lawal is committed to ensuring all projects are executed according to due process and global best practices, positioning the media as a key partner in governance and citizen engagement.
