Additionally, Sudan’s assistant coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, was handed a three-match suspension for unsporting behaviour towards the referees, who were from Madagascar. Both officials were fined CHF 5,000 (approximately $6,214) each.

These disciplinary actions underscore FIFA’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport and ensuring that all participants adhere to the highest standards of conduct. The SFA has yet to comment publicly on the sanctions.

Prior to this incident, Sudan was third in CAF Group B of the World Cup qualifiers, with 12 points from eight matches. Senegal leads the group with 18 points, while DR Congo follows closely behind.

The bans serve as a stern reminder of the importance of sportsmanship and respect for officials in football.
