Sudanese Army Captures RSF Stronghold Bara in Major Victory

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) suffered a major defeat on Thursday as Sudanese armed forces and allied groups captured Bara, a key stronghold previously used to launch attacks on El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state.

Bara, long considered a bastion of the RSF, sits along the strategic Sadarat Highway linking Khartoum to Kordofan and Darfur.

The city allowed the paramilitary group to maintain influence over northern Kordofan and conduct repeated assaults on El Obeid.

Sudanese army forces released a statement saying they entered Bara “with force, determination and power, liberating it of the filth of the thugs.” Analysts say the battle inflicted significant losses on the RSF’s fighters.

Despite reports that the RSF had acquired long-range kamikaze drones earlier this year, these advanced weapons have not reversed the tide of defeats.

Over the past year, the RSF increased its drone capabilities, while the Sudanese army reinforced recruitment and forged strategic alliances.
