The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has declared that opposition parties will unite to defeat President Bola Tinubu and remove the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in the 2027 general elections.
Baba-Ahmed made the declaration on Monday at a summit of opposition political parties organised by G100 in Abuja.
He said no single opposition party could defeat the ruling APC on its own, stressing that cooperation among the parties was necessary to achieve their objective in 2027.
“In 2027, we will together remove this government and put the Nigerian nation in a different trajectory,” Baba-Ahmed stated.
He said the success of the opposition’s plan would depend largely on how effectively the parties worked together.
“But the certainty of this happening will be reinforced by the way we work,” he said.
According to him, none of the parties represented at the summit could honestly claim it had the capacity to defeat the APC independently.

“No party will be honest enough to tell you alone they can defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC). There is no party among the six that is here that is not facing an existential threat to its existence. None,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed alleged that opposition parties were facing legal battles and other efforts aimed at weakening their structures.
“We are all in court, there are efforts to cripple us, to destroy us, but we will not be destroyed because we represent the Nigerian people. Our back is against the wall, but we will fight back,” he said.
Opposition Coalition A Sign Of Hope
The PRP chairman described the emerging opposition coalition as a “sign of hope” and “a light being beamed”, insisting that the plan to defeat the APC was not a joke.
He said the opposition was serious about removing Tinubu and forming a new government after the 2027 elections.
The summit was attended by representatives of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a document presented at the summit, G100 said it had in recent weeks conducted private consultations with leaders of the six parties, including national chairmen, presidential candidates and senior political figures.
The group said the consultations were aimed at facilitating structured negotiations among the opposition parties on cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.
