Nigeria’s Super Falcons have intensified preparations for their pre-Women Africa Cup of Nations friendlies against Cameroon. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade arrived in Yaoundé with 16 other players and immediately opened camp activities.
The team will face the Indomitable Lionesses at the Military Stadium in Yaoundé on Saturday, 28 February, and Tuesday, 3 March. Both fixtures will help the two sides sharpen tactics ahead of the continental tournament in Morocco, scheduled for 17 March to 3 April 2026.
Nigeria, the reigning champions and 10-time winners, will compete in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt, and debutants Malawi. The Falcons will begin their campaign against Malawi on March 18 in Casablanca.
Meanwhile, Cameroon will battle Ghana, Mali, and Cape Verde in Group D. They open their tournament against Mali in Fes on the same day.
Strong Start in Camp
Already in camp is Canada-based playmaker Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene. Goalkeepers Comfort Erhabor and Fatima Oloko have also joined the squad.
In defence, Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin, Shukurat Oladipo, and Kafayat Shittu have begun training. In midfield, Christy Ucheibe, Esther Onyenezide, Precious Christopher, and Jennifer Echegini are working with the technical crew.
Up front, Gift Monday, Joy Omewa, Favour Nkwocha, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Rinsola Babajide have started drills. As a result, the coaching staff now has several attacking options to test before the tournament.
On Wednesday, the Falcons trained at the annex of the Stade Omnisport Ahmadu Ahidjo. However, the team will switch to the main stadium for its next session. Notably, Nigeria defeated Cameroon 1–0 at the same venue in the 2016 WAFCON final.

Meanwhile, more key players are on their way to camp. Israel-based defender Sikiratu Isah is expected to arrive, alongside goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.
In addition, defenders Osinachi Ohale and Michelle Alozie will strengthen the backline. Forward Chinwendu Ihezuo is also due in camp. Furthermore, Mexico-based wing-back Chidinma Okeke and midfielder Halimatu Ayinde should join the squad soon.
With the tournament fast approaching, the Falcons are building rhythm and cohesion. Therefore, the friendlies against Cameroon will offer a crucial test of fitness, strategy, and squad balance before the title defence begins.
