Super Falcons Ready to Become Global Football Powerhouse – Ajibade

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade says it is time for Nigeria’s women’s team to move beyond African glory and challenge the world’s best.

In an interview with FIFA.com, the Paris Saint-Germain winger expressed confidence in the team’s quality and ambition.

“We don’t just want to be African champions anymore. We want to be global contenders,” she said. “We know we have the talent and the ability to reach that level.”

The Super Falcons already hold 10 continental titles and have featured in every FIFA Women’s World Cup. Yet, they have often struggled to match the strength and pace of top global sides.

Ajibade believes stronger preparation, better exposure, and consistent investment will bridge that gap. She also noted that the team’s hunger and unity give them a new edge.

Recently, Nigeria qualified for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a 3–1 aggregate win over Benin Republic.
