Oyo Governor: It Is My Turn, I Have Paid My Dues – Adelabu

The Minister of Power and 2027 governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has formally declared his intention to contest the governorship seat, saying it is his turn to lead the state, having paid his dues within the party and to the people of Oyo.
Adelabu made the declaration during a strategic meeting with APC leaders, stakeholders, and party members in Oke-Ogun Zone 2 as part of his ongoing consultation and mobilisation tour across the state.
He said his ambition was driven by a passion to serve and improve the lives of the people, especially the less privileged, and not for personal gain.

“My ambition is not for personal or selfish reasons. It is borne out of my love for the poor, the less privileged, and the people of Oyo State. If given the opportunity to serve as governor in 2027, I will prioritise development, unity, and the overall progress of the state,” he said.
Focus on Oke-Ogun Zone 2
Oke-Ogun Zone 2 comprises six local government areas: Oorelope, Saki-East, Saki-West, Olorunsogo, Irepo, and Atisbo.
Adelabu, who was accompanied by prominent APC chieftains including Hon. Abiodun Ambali (brother of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi), Alhaji Wale Sanusi, Alhaji Kola Amoo, and Alhaji Fatai Adesokan, stressed the importance of unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
Call for Party Unity and Internal Democracy
He urged the APC to prioritise internal democracy and inclusiveness during its congresses while warning against the imposition of candidates.
“A united APC owns Oyo State. PDP is only a tenant in Agodi Government House. A divided house cannot win an election. We must come together, organise ourselves, and take back our state,” Adelabu declared.
Earlier, the minister held a closed-door meeting with key APC figures from the zone, including Alhaji Sulaimon Ajibade (Saki West), Alhaji Hamed Ayinla (Olorunsogo), Alhaji Balogun Mayor Alagbada (Saki East), and Chief Lateef Ajemeje (Atisbo).
In his remarks, Hon. Kareem Abisodun, who represents Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo Federal Constituency, commended Adelabu’s contributions to the power sector and appealed for urgent intervention to improve electricity supply in the zone.
He assured the minister of his constituents’ full support for his 2027 governorship bid.
