NBTE Approves ND Law, Agric, Others for Kwara State Polytechnic

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted full accreditation to Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, to run programmes in law, agriculture and others during its recently concluded accreditation and resource inspection exercise.
The Board also approved the introduction of several new National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
These newly accredited courses will take effect from the 2025/2026 academic session.
This was contained in a press statement released on Monday by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Halima Garba.
The official approval came through a letter signed by Dr. Fatima Umar, the Director of Polytechnic and Allied Programmes at NBTE.

During the NBTE team’s inspection visit, Dr. Umar expressed satisfaction with the Polytechnic’s existing infrastructure and curriculum. She applauded the leadership of Rector Abdul-Jimoh Mohammed for proactively aligning the institution’s academic direction with national development priorities and labour market demands.
Dr Umar emphasised the need for the polytechnic to continue expanding its course offerings to cater to the growing number of admission seekers and to help reduce youth unemployment.
In his response, Rector Abdul-Jimoh Mohammed appreciated the NBTE accreditation team for their detailed review and constructive feedback. He reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to maintaining high educational standards and implementing all recommended improvements.
Members of staff of the Polytechnic welcomed the news with enthusiasm. They described the development as a positive step that will foster innovation in teaching and learning. They also believe it will position Kwara State Polytechnic as a leading institution in technical and vocational education in Nigeria.
