Nigeria’s Hair, Beauty Industry to Hit ₦23trn by 2030

Nigeria’s hair and beauty industry, valued at over ₦15 trillion, has been projected to hit ₦23 trillion by 2030.

President  of the National Association of Hair and Beauty Practitioners of Nigeria (NAHBPON),  Comrade Tina Doofan Orjir, made this known during her acceptance speech.

Orjir outlined an ambitious vision to position the sector as a driver of economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction.

She described the industry as a “vital engine” of empowerment, stressing its potential to tackle unemployment and insecurity by creating sustainable livelihoods for millions of Nigerians.

“These statistics show that our industry holds the way for poverty reduction and job creation, thereby providing a pathway to reducing security challenges in the country,” she said.

She pledged to lead with inclusiveness and transparency, promising to be a “listening leader, committed to understanding the needs, concerns and ideas” of members. Orjir also urged the Federal Government and development partners to forge strong collaborations with the industry to strengthen its contribution to national growth.

“Our goals are ambitious, and our challenges are real. However, I am confident that together, we can achieve greatness,” she declared.

Her priorities include expanding professional development opportunities, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and making Nigeria the hub of Africa’s hair and beauty industry.

The NAHBPON leader commended her predecessors for laying a solid foundation and vowed to build on their achievements.

“Together, we will elevate NAHBPON to new heights and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our members and our beloved country, Nigeria as a whole,” Orjir affirmed.

The hair and beauty sector is among Nigeria’s fastest-growing, with strong potential to boost non-oil revenues, stimulate innovation and provide long-term employment opportunities, particularly for women and young people.
