The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has undertaken a major leadership reshuffle, redeploying all four of its deputy governors in a move aimed at strengthening coordination across key directorates and aligning responsibilities with the bank’s evolving priorities.
The changes, which took effect on June 1, 2026, were reflected in updated profiles published on the apex bank’s official website on Monday.
Under the new structure, Philip Ikeazor has been appointed to oversee the Policy Directorate, succeeding Muhammad Abdullahi, who has been reassigned to the Corporate Services Directorate.

The CBN said the redeployments form part of efforts to strengthen institutional effectiveness and optimise the expertise of its senior management team.
According to the bank, the changes were made “to make use of the experience of senior officials in different areas of responsibility and to support evolving institutional priorities.”
The latest redeployments come as the apex bank continues to implement reforms aimed at enhancing monetary policy effectiveness, financial system stability and operational efficiency.
