President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Nigeria’s solidarity following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
Tinubu, in a condolence message, said the death of Hassan was a profound loss to President Samia, her children and the entire Hassan family.
The President said Hassan had stood quietly beside his wife for almost five decades, supporting her through different stages of her service to Tanzania.
“I know what this loss means to President Samia and her family. She has lost a lifelong companion, her children a beloved father, and the family one of its pillars,” Tinubu said.
He added that the depth of their companionship made the loss particularly painful.
“For almost five decades he stood quietly beside her, through every season of her service to Tanzania. A companionship of that depth becomes part of who a person is. To lose it is to lose a portion of oneself, and I feel for her deeply,” he said.
Tinubu extended his condolences to President Samia, her children, the Hassan family and the people of Tanzania on behalf of the Nigerian government and people, as well as his family.
The President also stressed the importance of African solidarity at a time of bereavement.

Tinubu prayed for the repose of Hassan’s soul and asked Allah to grant the bereaved family the strength to cope with the loss.
“May the Almighty Allah grant Hafidh Ameir Hassan eternal rest, comfort all those he has left behind, and give President Samia and her family the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss,” he added.
