Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working alongside police operatives and local vigilante groups, have rescued six abducted children in Gidan Maga village, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident happened on Monday, when armed bandits stormed the community in an attempt to abduct residents.
Gun Battle in Naalma Forest
Security forces, acting on a distress call, swiftly mobilized and engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel. Outgunned, the criminals abandoned the children and fled into Naalma Forest, leaving behind their captives.
The rescued children were identified as:
- Abdulhakim Rilwanu (12)
- Zinatu Mansir (10)
- Ado Sani (9)
- Sani Umar (10)
- Yusuf Umar (10)
- Jamilu Nasiru (11)
All are indigenes of the same community.
Authorities confirmed that the victims were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their families. Relieved parents and villagers expressed gratitude to security forces for the swift intervention.

Military sources described the rescue as “a clear testament to ongoing synergy between security agencies and local communities in the fight against banditry in Katsina State.”
Troops have since intensified search operations within Naalma Forest to track down the fleeing assailants and prevent future attacks.
