Security forces successfully rescued 44 kidnapped victims during a clearance operation in Rugu forest, Katsina State, on August 19.
The multi-agency raid involved troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, the police, DSS, Civil Watch Corps, local vigilantes, and air support from the Nigerian Air Force.
The operation focused on Kaigar Malamai, a border community within Rugu forest. Security sources confirmed that several bandits’ camps were dislodged, and the victims were freed unharmed.
Among those rescued were three people from Kano State and 41 Katsina residents from Kankia, Charanci, Matazu, Kusada, and Dutsin-ma LGAs. The victims included elderly men, women, children, and entire families.
