The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly declared that his loyalty lies with those who stand firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that governance is about rewarding support and delivering results.
Wike made the statement on Thursday during the flag-off of Lot 2 of the Water Supply Project in Karu, where he praised former Senator representing the FCT, Philip Aduda, and the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, for their role in attracting development to the people.
The Minister, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of aligning with those who can influence government decisions to benefit the people. He pledged to construct a 2km road in Karu at Aduda’s request, insisting that his administration will always support leaders who back President Tinubu.
“There is a road you said is about 2km, is it not? Consider it done,” Wike declared.
“One thing about government and politics is this: support those who have the capacity to bring something to the people. Support those that government will listen to. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him.”
Praise for Maikalangu’s Performance
Wike also lauded the performance of AMAC Chairman Christopher Maikalangu, describing him as hardworking and effective in using his access to government to deliver roads and infrastructure.
“You can see that since he became Chairman, he has brought government to do Saburi Road, Kabusa-Takushere Road, Deidei Road, and more,” Wike said. “This is the only man I know. If he wins as Chairman of AMAC, we will give him whatever he wants. I don’t know the party he belongs to. But I know that he supports Tinubu, and anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him.”
Turning to the project itself, Wike stressed that President Tinubu’s administration has done what previous governments failed to do—provide potable water to Karu communities and other satellite towns.
“We have had governments stay here for five years, for eight years, and they did nothing about water. Did they give you water? No. But this government promised, and now we have fulfilled it,” he told the crowd, urging residents to stand by Tinubu’s government as one that keeps its promises.

The event also had political undertones as former Senator Philip Aduda, who represented the FCT under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between 2011 and 2023, was publicly commended by Wike despite his opposition party background.
Meanwhile, AMAC Chairman Christopher Maikalangu, who defected from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2024, is seeking re-election in the February 2026 Area Council polls.
The Lot 2 Water Project is part of a 198km pipeline initiative designed to extend clean, potable water to underserved satellite towns in the FCT. According to Wike, the project aligns with President Tinubu’s broader agenda of expanding infrastructure and improving the living conditions of rural and urban residents alike.
