Alex Iwobi has written his name into Nigerian football history after making his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles, becoming only the fourth player ever to reach the milestone.
The Fulham midfielder achieved the landmark during Nigeria’s international friendly against Portugal on Wednesday, cementing his place among the national team’s most enduring figures.
Iwobi made his senior debut for Nigeria in October 2015 against DR Congo and has since become a regular feature in the squad.
Over the past decade, he has represented the Super Eagles at major tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup, contributing key performances in crucial matches.

With his latest appearance, Iwobi joins an elite group of Nigerian football legends who have reached 100 caps or more for the national team.
The list is led by Ahmed Musa, who holds the record with 111 appearances. He is followed by Vincent Enyeama with 101 caps and Joseph Yobo, who also reached exactly 100 before retiring from international football.
Iwobi now completes the quartet with his own 100th cap.
