Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms, signalling his readiness to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Atiku disclosed this on Thursday in a post on his X handle, describing his presidential bid as part of a broader effort to restore hope and economic prosperity in the country.
According to him, the move marked a major step in what he called a national mission to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges.
“The march to restore prosperity and better days to our beloved nation took a firm and decisive step forward today at the National Secretariat of our great party, the African Democratic Congress,” he wrote.
Calls for National Support
The former presidential candidate appealed to Nigerians across ethnic, religious, and regional lines to support his ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said the movement was driven by a collective determination to rebuild the country and return it to the path of growth and stability.
“This is more than a political journey; it is a national movement rooted in hope, renewal, and the collective resolve to save Nigeria from despair,” Atiku stated.
“I call on all Nigerians, regardless of region, faith, or background, to join us in this noble cause. Together, we will restore the promise of our nation and bring good times back again.”
Supporters Storm ADC Secretariat
A video shared alongside the post showed a large crowd of supporters and party loyalists gathered at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja ahead of Atiku’s arrival.
The atmosphere at the venue was charged as supporters chanted slogans and cheered the former vice president during the submission process.
The development marks another significant step in Atiku’s expected bid for the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
