Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, has rejected his inclusion in the policy team of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential campaign.
Moghalu, in a statement posted on his official X account, said he was surprised to see his name listed by Atiku and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) campaign team without his knowledge or consent.
“For the record, I was not consulted and did not give my consent to my name being published as a member of the ADC candidate’s policy team,” he said.
Moghalu stressed that he was not a member of Atiku’s policy team, either officially or in an advisory capacity.
He also said he had withdrawn from partisan politics since 2022 and had maintained a non-partisan position in Nigeria’s national affairs.
“I am not a member or sympathiser of any political party in Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, his current engagements are focused on public policy and geopolitical risk through his roles as President of the Institute for Governance and Economic Transformation (IGET) Africa and Chief Executive Officer of Sogato Strategies.

Moghalu said his commitment to Nigeria’s development did not require partisan alignment.
“I have adopted the path of statesmanship, not partisanship,” he said.
Pinnacle Daily reports that Moghalu was the presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) during the 2019 general election, which was won by Muhammadu Buhari. In October 2019, Moghalu resigned his membership of the YPP, announcing that he would focus on advocacy for electoral reform. In December 2022, Moghalu announced that he had withdrawn completely from partisan politics in Nigeria and had returned to a professional life.
