Nestle’s MAGGI Reaffirms Commitment to Food Quality, Safety Practices

In a bid to champion transparency and reinforce the collective responsibility of food safety, MAGGI, a culinary brand of Nestlé Nigeria, has conducted a series of immersive engagements across its value chain aimed at deepening stakeholder understanding of its production processes, from raw ingredients to the consumer’s table.

The initiative, which was part of the company’s activities marking the 2026 World Food Safety Day, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including suppliers, distributors, consumers, journalists, and digital content creators.

The engagements provided an opportunity for firsthand experience of the rigorous standards, partnerships, and scientific expertise required to deliver MAGGI products to millions of Nigerian households daily.

According to a statement by the company, the engagement series tailored specific experiences for different sectors of the value chain.

It said suppliers were guided through MAGGI’s quality requirements and manufacturing standards. Distributors received deep dives into best practices for product handling, storage, and warehousing to preserve product integrity during transit, while consumers engaged directly with food experts, gaining clarity on the ingredients, processes, and expertise that go into the culinary brand.

The programme culminated in a tour of Nestlé Nigeria’s Agbara factory where journalists and digital content creators tracked the transformation of a MAGGI cube from locally sourced Nigerian soya beans to the final packaged product.

The tour highlighted how modern food manufacturing mirrors traditional African culinary heritage.

Participants gained insight into how soya beans sourced from Nigerian farmers are transformed through carefully controlled fermentation processes and advanced manufacturing technology to deliver the distinctive taste, quality, and consistency consumers associate with MAGGI.

The organisers explained that the fermentation techniques used in MAGGI production draw inspiration from time-honoured practices familiar to many Nigerian consumers through local seasonings such as iru, dawadawa, and ogiri.

“At Nestlé, quality and food safety are embedded in every stage of our operations,” said Talla Fall, Factory Manager at the Nestlé Nigeria Agbara Factory.

“From sourcing ingredients and testing raw materials to manufacturing and packaging, our teams work diligently every day to uphold the high standards that consumers expect from MAGGI.”

Throughout the factory experience, visitors observed strict quality assurance and safety systems, including continuous monitoring and rigorous testing protocols at every stage of production and packaging.

“We believe quality and food safety are shared responsibilities, which is why we continuously engage stakeholders across the value chain to build understanding, strengthen collaboration, and provide greater visibility into the journey behind our products.”

The program concluded with an interactive cooking session, allowing participants to use MAGGI products firsthand while discussing taste, nutrition, and responsible product usage in everyday Nigerian meals.

Through these open-door initiatives, MAGGI continues to build consumer trust, foster supply chain transparency, and reinforce its commitment to delivering safe, nutritious products across the country.
