Just In: Tinubu Fires Service Chiefs, Retains Undiendeye

President Bola Tinubu has sacked some service chiefs and appointed their replacements.

This was confirmed in a statement released on Friday, October 23, signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Public Communication, Sunday Dare.

The statement said the changes in the hierarchy of the Service Chiefs were in furtherance of the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria to strengthen the national security architecture.

It said the President appointed General Olufemi Oluyede to replace General Christopher Musa as the new Chief of Defense Staff (CDS).

The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu, while Air Vice Marshall S.K. Aneke is Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas was appointed as the Chief of Naval Staff. However, Chief of Defense Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye, retains his position.

Dare said the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed his profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership in the nation’s armed forces.

The President charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them “to further enhance the professionalism, vigilance and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”

“All appointments take immediate effect,” he added.
