The publisher of Eagle Online and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Eagle Media Limited, Dotun Oladipo, has died at the age of 56.
Oladipo reportedly died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Lagos, after he suddenly took ill at his office.
His death was announced by Eagle Online on Wednesday, with the publication describing it as a shock to his colleagues, friends and associates.
According to reports, Oladipo was said to have been in his usual state of health earlier in the day before he suddenly became ill. He reportedly drove himself to an undisclosed hospital several hours before his death.
Journalism Community Mourns
The President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, Danlami Nmodu, confirmed Oladipo’s death in a message shared on the guild’s WhatsApp platform.
Nmodu described him as the guild’s Emeritus President and prayed for the repose of his soul.

Oladipo was a former president of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers.
The General Secretary of the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society, Nkanu Egbe, also announced his death, describing it as a devastating loss to the cooperative and the Nigerian journalism community.
Egbe said Oladipo led the cooperative with dedication while building a journalism career that spanned nearly three decades.
He added that details of the funeral arrangements and other matters would be communicated later.
Tributes Pour In
The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, also mourned Oladipo in a Facebook post.
Sowore described the late journalist as a complete gentleman, accomplished digital journalist and remarkable human being.
He extended his condolences to Oladipo’s family, friends, colleagues and members of Nigeria’s digital journalism community.
Journalism Career
Oladipo was a former politics editor at PUNCH Newspapers. He also worked with the Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Compass and The Sun before establishing Eagle Online.
He obtained a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication from Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta, in 1992.
His death has drawn condolences from colleagues and members of the Nigerian media community, who described his passing as a major loss to journalism.
