Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has taken a frontline role in the political campaign for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Davido was named Chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Council, a platform set up to mobilise young voters in support of Adeleke’s re-election.
Governor Adeleke said the appointment was strategic, describing the singer as a strong youth mobiliser whose influence would help strengthen grassroots support across the state.
He added that his administration’s policies targeting young people align with Davido’s appeal and involvement in the campaign.

Davido said his decision to take part goes beyond family ties, noting that it is driven by his belief in the governor’s performance in office.
“I’m here not just because he is family, but because he is doing a good job and still has more to achieve,” he said.
The singer also revealed that he would pause music activities for two months to focus on campaign work.
He urged campaign teams to intensify grassroots mobilisation across all local government areas, stressing door-to-door engagement and clear communication of government achievements and plans.
“Take the message to the people. Show them what has been done and what is coming next,” he said.
