FCT Police Smash Notorious Robbery Syndicate, Arrest 13, Recover AK-47, Stolen Vehicle

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismantled a notorious armed robbery syndicate operating across Abuja. Authorities arrested 13 suspects and recovered weapons, ammunition, and a stolen vehicle.

This was revealed in a statement issued on February 13, 2026, signed by SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, Abuja, and made available to Pinnacle Daily.

According to the statement, operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, carried out intelligence-driven operations between January 10 and 12, 2026. The crackdown followed multiple robbery complaints from residents in Asokoro, Mabuchi, and Utako.

The police traced the gang to a hideout in Durumi. When officers approached, the suspects opened fire. The operatives responded swiftly, overpowered the gang, and arrested eight members. No casualties were reported among the police team.

Adeh said the team launched a second operation in Apo-Waru, where the remaining members engaged the police in another gun battle. Officers subdued them and arrested five more suspects. These coordinated raids effectively ended the gang’s operations in the FCT.

She said a CCTV footage from one of the gang’s recent robberies helped investigators identify several suspects and link them to multiple violent robberies across Gwagwalada, Apo, Waru, Jahi, and Wuse.

Notable Robbery Incidents

Furthermore, the statement said investigations show the gang attacked Dan-Shade Hotel in Gwagwalada, stealing cash, foreign currency, and mobile phones. They also disarmed a vigilante operative. Also at Hi-Test Travel Lodge in Wuse Zone 6, a police officer sustained serious injuries, and the gang stole a vehicle.

In another incident at Khole Home Apartment in Jahi, several residents were affected, including security aides attached to the Executive Governor of Kebbi State.

The police arrested: Yahuya Hassan (21), Umar Shaibu a.k.a. Sarki (23), Adahu Ibrahim (25), Abubakar Sani (20), Abdulazeez Usani (20), Aliyu Aminu (21), Aliyu Adam (18), Sadisu Samilu (20), Ibrahim Usman a.k.a. Yellow Mai Target (20), Suleiman Yawala (21), Mohammed Ali (28), Sani Hamza (25), and Hassan Abba (19).

The police recovered one grey 2015 Toyota Corolla (registration ABC 200 GP); one AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated rifle, and a Jericho 941 pistol; 7.62 x 39mm ammunition and seven rounds of 9mm live ammunition; as well as assorted iPhones, $100 in one-dollar bills, and assorted charms believed to aid the gang’s activities.”

According to the FCT Police Command, investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion.
