COAS Deploys New Soldiers Against Terrorists, Warns on Professional Conduct

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Waidi Shaibu, has charged newly trained soldiers of the 90 Regular Recruit Intake to take decisive action against terrorists and other criminal elements threatening the country’s security.

The directive was given on Saturday during the Passing Out Parade held at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, according to a statement issued by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations.

The Army Chief said the soldiers had undergone rigorous military training, including counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations, and were now fully prepared to contribute to ongoing efforts to secure the nation.

He stressed that the new recruits would play a critical role in sustaining military operations aimed at combating terrorism, banditry and other forms of criminality across the country.

Respect Human Rights, Follow Rules

While urging the soldiers to be fearless in confronting security threats, Lt. Gen. Shaibu emphasized the need for strict adherence to the Rules of Engagement and the Law of Armed Conflict.

He noted that the Nigerian Army remains committed to denying criminals safe havens but must carry out all operations with professionalism, discipline and respect for human rights.

The Army Chief also highlighted the continued support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in strengthening the operational capacity of the Armed Forces.
