The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that telecom subscribers will begin receiving compensation for poor quality of service (QoS) from today or tomorrow.
The executive vice chairman of the NCC, Dr Aminu Maida, disclosed this at a media roundtable held at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, saying the compensation will be paid in the form of airtime directly to affected customers.
According to him, the move is part of the Commission’s directive to telecom operators to address persistent service quality issues experienced by subscribers across the country.

Dr Maida also said the NCC is working closely with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to resolve issues surrounding suspended credit airtime and data services, ensuring that customers continue to access uninterrupted services.
He clarified that while telecom operators remain licensed by the NCC, any organisation offering credit services to subscribers must obtain the necessary approvals, adding that the regulatory collaboration is aimed at protecting consumers and improving service delivery in the sector.
The Commission expressed confidence that the compensation rollout would help restore trust and improve accountability within Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.
