Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced fresh appointments just days after dissolving his cabinet.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor’s chief press secretary, said Fubara appointed Dagogo Wokoma as secretary to the state government (SSG) and Sunny Ewule as chief of staff (CoS).
According to the statement, both appointments take immediate effect. The appointees are to be sworn in by 2 pm today at the Exco Chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Fubara had dissolved the state executive council on February 12. At the time, Nzeshi said the governor directed all commissioners and special advisers to hand over to permanent secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries.

The governor also thanked the outgoing members of the executive council for their service to the state and wished them success in their future endeavours.
The appointments come days after Bola Tinubu intervened in the political crisis in the state, brokering peace between the governor and the Rivers State House of Assembly after months of tension marked by impeachment threats and divisions within the legislature.
In January, a majority of the assembly members, who are allies of Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory, revived impeachment proceedings against Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.
However, the lawmakers later suspended the process following a meeting between Tinubu, Fubara and Wike on February 9 at the Presidential Villa in Abuja over the lingering political crisis in the state.
