‘No Force Can Stop Us’ – Ekiti ADC Governorship Aspirant Vows After Attack on Party Secretariat

A governorship aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State, Apostle Ayodele David-Adesua, has vowed that no act of violence or intimidation will derail the party’s mission to rescue the state from what he described as years of misrule.

David-Adesua made the declaration in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, while reacting to Tuesday’s attack on the ADC state secretariat and members during the inauguration of party executives across local councils.

He condemned the incident, describing it as a “barbaric and cowardly act” carried out by suspected political thugs who allegedly set ablaze the newly inaugurated party office, destroyed properties, and injured party supporters.

“I strongly condemn the burning of our new ADC Secretariat, a desperate act of political cowardice and intimidation,” David-Adesua said. “This attack is not just against a building, but against the democratic will of the Ekiti people who long for freedom from misrule and tyranny.”

‘We Will Rise Stronger’ – David-Adesua Vows

The ADC aspirant said the incident would not weaken the party’s resolve, stressing that the attack would instead strengthen their unity and determination to challenge the ruling establishment.

“Let it be clear that no amount of destruction will deter us. From these ashes, we shall rebuild and rise stronger, bolder, and more united. This cowardly act only fuels our determination to defend truth, uphold justice, and restore the dignity of our people,” he said.

David-Adesua described the ADC’s mission to bring transformation to Ekiti as “divinely inspired and people-driven,” adding that the movement would confront corruption and oppression with courage and conviction.

“We will not bow to agents of oppression or saboteurs who thrive on chaos. We will confront corruption with courage, tyranny with truth, and fear with faith. Our movement is unstoppable and anchored in divine purpose,” he added.

Aregbesola Denounces Violence, Warns Against Intolerance

Meanwhile, former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the ADC, Rauf Aregbesola, who attended the inauguration, also condemned the attack, describing it as “a shameful display of intolerance and a dangerous threat to democracy.”

“It is unfortunate that those who gained power through a democratic process now resort to violence to silence the opposition. Democracy is built on freedom of association and political participation without fear. The attack on ADC members in Ekiti is a descent into fascism,” Aregbesola said.

Police Launch Investigation

The Ekiti State Police Command confirmed that an investigation has commenced to identify and prosecute those behind the attack.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the Ekiti governorship election for June 20, 2026.
