Nimrod Returns as NVBF President For Third Term

Engineer Musa Nimrod has secured a third consecutive term as President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), reaffirming his dominance in the sport’s administration.
The Adamawa-born sports administrator, who first assumed the presidency in 2017 and won re-election in 2021, was returned unopposed during the federation’s elective congress held yesterday at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Nimrod swept all 16 votes cast. His re-election is widely regarded as a mandate to further drive the development and transformation of volleyball in Nigeria.

Fresh Board Leadership
Prince Babatunde Omisore was elected first vice president, while Architect Adamu Tenimu emerged as second vice president. Nimrod was also returned unopposed as the Northwest zonal representative.
Other elected board members include:
DCP Stephen Hasso (Rtd) – North East representative
Bolcit Amakiri – North Central representative
Prince Babatunde Omisore—South West representative
Kingsley Nwosu—South East representative
Famous Daunemigha—South-South representative
Dauda Saje – Players’ representative
Samuel Timothy – Technical representative
Comptroller Frank Onyeka – Sponsor representative

Grassroots Development the Focus
In his acceptance remarks, Nimrod pledged to build on past achievements while introducing fresh initiatives to boost the sport’s profile.
“We are not resting on our past achievements but instead looking forward to what lies ahead. Over the next four years, our focus will be on grassroots development,” he said.
He highlighted plans for structured pathways for players across all levels, from U-15 to senior categories, while strengthening major volleyball tours with the support of experienced staff, mentors, and additional sponsors.
Busy Calendar Ahead
The NVBF faces a packed international schedule for the remainder of the year. Nigerian teams are set to compete in:
U-21 Volleyball Championship in Mexico
U-18 World Championship in Qatar
Senior World Volleyball Championship in Australia
African Youth Games in Angola
World Schools Games in China
“With the elections now concluded, our focus is firmly on action. We await the formal inauguration by the National Sports Commission, after which the newly elected board will commence full operations,” Nimrod added.
