The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCT), has commemced a seven-day warning strike to demand urgent reforms in the city’s health sector.
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) confirmed the strike in a communique signed by its President, Dr. George Ebong, and other executive members.

Dr. Ebong described the FCT health system as a longstanding failure, stressing that resident doctors are under immense pressure, often covering multiple departments.
Last month, the union urged the government to address rising challenges in the sector. During the strike announcement, Ebong highlighted critical issues, including manpower shortages, non-functional equipment, poor working conditions, and unpaid staff allowances.

He warned that continued neglect could trigger a systemic collapse if immediate intervention is not provided.
