Nigeria’s Super Eagles bowed out of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in the group stage, despite their rich footballing history.
Losses to Senegal and Sudan sealed their fate before a consolatory 2-0 win over Congo.
The victory against Congo provided a glimmer of pride, with Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi scoring in the second half. The performance showed glimpses of what the team could achieve under better circumstances.
Coach’s Reflection
Head coach Eric Chelle praised his players for their resilience, saying they fought hard to restore pride. “They played with honour and showed what they could really do. Our only regret remains the Sudan defeat, but that’s football,” he told CAFonline.
