Nigeria’s star goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has earned a historic nomination for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy, following her outstanding performance at the recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and a standout year for both club and country.
The award, presented by the organisers of the Ballon d’Or, recognises the best female goalkeeper in the world during the year under review.
Nnadozie was instrumental in Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title, securing four clean sheets en route to being named Best Goalkeeper of the tournament. Her leadership and reflexes were vital to the Super Falcons’ success, once again confirming her status as one of Africa’s top football exports.
The 23-year-old also made headlines with her recent transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Women’s Super League (WSL), further cementing her place among the elite in global women’s football.
