Security chiefs in the Federal Capital Territory have intensified efforts under Operation Sweep, a coordinated multi-agency crackdown on criminal activities, following a high-level strategy meeting held in Abuja.
The meeting, convened between FCT Service Commanders and the Director of Security, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), focused on assessing field reports, identifying operational gaps, and mapping out new enforcement strategies to improve safety across the territory.
The development was disclosed in a security brief made available to Pinnacle Daily by the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh.
Focus on Intelligence and Joint Operations
Launched earlier this year, Operation Sweep involves the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other agencies working in synergy to dismantle criminal enclaves, boost intelligence sharing, and ensure rapid response to threats.
SP Adeh noted that security personnel remain “awake to enable citizens to enjoy their sleep,” underscoring the round-the-clock nature of patrols and interventions being executed under the operation.

The commanders stressed the importance of community cooperation, urging residents to report suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods.
Satellite towns such as Kuje, Bwari, and Gwagwalada were identified as priority zones for expanded surveillance and joint enforcement due to their strategic importance and reported vulnerabilities.
Following the meeting, security chiefs reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration, proactive deployments, and data-driven policing.
SP Adeh confirmed that more community-focused patrols, covert operations, and joint enforcement activities will be rolled out in the coming weeks to consolidate recent gains and preempt emerging threats.
