French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that he held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with both leaders coordinating their positions on the war in Ukraine.
Macron noted that beyond Ukraine, discussions touched on strengthening economic exchanges and expanding strategic partnerships between France and India.

India, meanwhile, has faced pressure from the United States over its continued purchase of Russian oil. Washington has imposed additional tariffs of up to 50% on Indian goods, one of the highest penalty rates so far.
