Court Confirms Thomas Partey’s Bail Conditions in UK Rape Trial

By Esther Ososanya

Former Arsenal and Ghana international midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail by a London court following formal charges of rape and sexual assault involving three women.

Partey, 32, appeared before the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring confirmed the bail terms. Under the conditions, Partey is barred from contacting any of the alleged victims and must inform police of any permanent address changes or international travel.

Chief Magistrate Goldspring also appeared to confirm Partey’s recent move to Spain, stating:

“I understand he’s no longer employed in this country and is playing in Spain now.”

Though not officially named during previous investigations, Partey was formally charged last week with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, just four days after his contract with Arsenal expired at the end of June.

He is scheduled to appear next at the Old Bailey on September 2, where the case will progress to its next legal phase.

The charges span incidents involving three separate women, adding to what is shaping up to be one of the most high-profile legal cases involving a Premier League figure in recent years.
