The Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) can be removed from power in 2027 if opposition parties unite.
Aregbesola made this statement during a stakeholders’ meeting with party members in Akure, the Ondo State capital. He said the ADC is working to bring together Nigerians who want real change.
“We must set aside personal ambition and work together. With unity, we can win in all elections: presidential, National Assembly, and governorship,” he said.
He added that the ADC has begun talks with other political leaders. He mentioned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party leader Peter Obi as supporters of the coalition.
Aregbesola urged members to stay alert and focused. He warned that the APC may spread false information to divide the opposition. “Ignore distractions. Stay committed to the goal,” he said.

Growing Support for Coalition Movement
Hon. Gbenga Oedema, former governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), also spoke at the meeting. He accused the ruling party of using court cases to mislead the public.
“The legal threats are just distractions. They will not stop our work,” Oedema said. He praised Aregbesola for providing clear leadership during the session.
Hon. Akin Akinbobola, a former APC chieftain and ex-aide to Governor Olusegun Mimiko, described Nigeria’s condition as serious. He called for a united front to bring about reform.
“Our country is in distress. There is insecurity, hunger, and collapsing infrastructure. The ADC is offering a way forward through unity and reform,” Akinbobola said.
He added that more than ten political parties have joined recent meetings to support the coalition. “We are building a large movement that is gaining momentum. Everyone will have a place in it,” he said.
Public Frustration Fuels Political Shift
The Akure meeting marked a fresh phase in the ADC’s push to gather national support before the 2027 elections. Many in attendance expressed frustration over economic hardship and poor leadership.
According to party leaders, the growing dissatisfaction with current conditions is fuelling support for a united political front to bring lasting change.
