Tinubu Urges Governors to Spread Development to LGAs, Focus on Youth

President Bola Tinubu has called on state governors to ensure that development reaches all local government areas across the country.

Speaking on Monday when he hosted state governors to an interfaith breaking of the fast at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu said the period of Ramadan and Lent offers leaders the opportunity to reflect on the challenges faced by the people affected by their policies.

He urged the governors to “reach the young man who feels forgotten and lift the woman who carries her family on tired shoulders,” stressing the need for inclusive growth.

The president noted that Nigeria is “out of the woods” and that the economy is improving. He reiterated his commitment to the establishment of state police to address insecurity.

“Let it be all-encompassing so that we can spread development opportunities across the grassroots and local governments. I have seen a lot of progress being made in the states,” Tinubu said, according to a statement shared by Bayo Onanuga, his special adviser on information and strategy.

He added that “The reward of hard work is more work, including for my son, the farmer from Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago. There are lots of gains and commendations coming from all angles.

“As long as we stay together, work together, and are determined to rescue this country, the best is yet to come for Nigeria.

“We are out of the dark tunnel of uncertainty. The economy is showing up. Let’s help the unemployed. What I promise you will not be postponed. We will establish a state police to combat insecurity. Start looking around you,” he said.

Tinubu stressed that development must reach communities at the grassroots, and that compassion, opportunity, and progress must not be limited by religion, tribe, or social status.
