Tinubu Directs Lagos–Calabar Highway to Pass Through Ogoni Land

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered that the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway be rerouted to pass through Ogoni land.

The move aims to improve road access and boost economic activity in the region.

Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, announced the directive during a visit by a federal delegation to Rivers State. The delegation was led by National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

During a courtesy call to Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Umahi said the Federal Ministry of Works will work with the Rivers State Government to start construction soon.

The delegation included the Minister of Environment, Hon. Balarabe Abbas Lawal. Officials said the project will consider environmental and local development needs.

The highway reroute through Ogoni land is expected to improve connectivity along the southeastern coast and open new economic opportunities for communities along the route.
