Scores of Fubara Allies Disqualified in APC Rivers Assembly Primaries 

Impeachment: Rivers Chief Judge Declines Request to Set Up Panel to Probe Gov Fubara

The National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified dozens of aspirants linked to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara from participating in the party’s 2027 State House of Assembly primaries.

A screening list released by the APC showed that more than 60 aspirants were denied clearance to contest the assembly primaries across different constituencies in the state.

Many of those affected are believed to be loyalists of Governor Fubara and members of his political camp amid the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State.

Fubara Loyalists Receives Major Blow

Among those screened out are Berebupakabo Isaac Sekibo, Tamunodiepriye Fubara Goodluck Ohaka, Tonye Garrick Tom-George, Prince Emukighro Fubara and Tamunobaraiba George.

The affected aspirants cut across several constituencies, including Okrika, Khana, Omuma, Ahoada East, Obio/Akpor, Ikwerre, Andoni and Akuku-Toru.

Meanwhile, the APC cleared 33 aspirants to participate in the assembly primaries.

A number of those cleared are believed to be associates of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Among the aspirants cleared by the party are Maol Dumle, Tonye Smart Adoki, Kenneth Minimah, Justina Aniton Okorji and Arnold O. Davids.

The latest development comes only days after the APC also screened out several aspirants aligned with Governor Fubara from the party’s Senate and House of Representatives primaries in Rivers State.
