President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the rescue of 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and six other Nigerians who were abducted by criminal elements in Kogi State last week.
The President, in a statement on Monday, said the 21 victims, comprising eight males and 13 females, were rescued during a coordinated Search and Rescue (SAR) operation conducted by security agencies in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.
Tinubu said personnel from the military, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes participated in the operation that led to the safe recovery of the abductees from the kidnappers’ hideout in the forest.

He added that the rescued individuals are currently receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families.
“While the abductees have been safely rescued, our gallant security forces are still on the trail of the routed kidnappers,” Tinubu said.
The President directed security agencies to sustain pressure on criminal groups, assuring that those responsible for the abduction would face the full weight of the law.
“My administration remains committed to ensuring that every Nigerian can travel across our country without fear,” he said.
Tinubu commended the security team involved in the operation for their courage and appreciated the patience and understanding of the victims’ families throughout the period of uncertainty.
He also reassured parents and loved ones of NYSC members that his administration would continue to prioritise the safety of corps members and all Nigerians.
