Kwankwaso Says He is ‘Priceless’ Amid Speculation of Rift With Gov Yusuf

Former Kano State Governor and Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, says he remains “priceless” in politics, insisting that money does not determine his decisions.

Kwankwaso, who contested the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), spoke on Tuesday while addressing supporters at his residence in Kano.

He said that although many Nigerians believe politicians can be influenced with money, he considers himself different and guided by principles.

According to him, if money had been his priority, he already knows where to align politically. He added that no one has ever attempted to “buy” him politically.

Kwankwaso also praised members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, describing them as “priceless” for refusing to allow financial inducement to determine their electoral choices.

His remarks come against the backdrop of reports of tension between him and Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, amid speculation that the governor may be considering a move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso had earlier criticised any plan to hand over political control in Kano to former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, saying the development would be painful.

However, he urged his supporters to remain calm, noting that political offices are temporary and situations can change at any time. He added that only God determines power and positions.
